Position Overview
As the Estimating/Order Entry/Purchasing Department Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the estimation, purchasing and order entry processes for the production of printed materials. You will lead a team responsible for creating accurate estimates, managing purchasing activities and ensuring seamless order entry. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and email communication is essential for success in this role, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create printing estimates based on customer specifications, company standards and rates.
  • Analyze documentation to prepare estimates for time, cost, materials and labor.
  • Enter approved jobs into the management information system (MIS).
  • Evaluate production methods and provide quotes based on the most economical approach.
  • Revise estimates as needed due to specification changes.
  • Develop knowledge of available materials and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales, vendors and other departments to formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Utilize estimating software to provide accurate estimates to Customer Service Representatives.
  • Coordinate with department managers to determine production capabilities and optimal processes.
  • Provide direction and support to team members who determine project specifications.
  • Identify suppliers and internal resources for each quote request and research new sources of supply.
  • Review material costs and request supplier quotations.
  • Perform cost and lead time analysis to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate customer bids with sourcing to ensure proper execution.
  • Communicate quoting threshold data effectively with upper management.

Background and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in print estimating and job planning is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, or willingness to learn required software.
  • Strong understanding of offset and digital print processes.
  • Ability to accurately communicate cost estimate information to account management.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining quality control and accuracy.

Schedule

  • Full-time.
  • Five days a week – 8-hour shift.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Location

  • In-person at our Troy, Michigan location.

Salary

  • $50,000, commensurate with experience.
