Michigan Future Business Index

December 18, 2013

Phoenix Innovate’s research department just finished the Michigan Future Business Index (MFBI), in partnership with the Accident Fund Insurance Company of America and Michigan Business Network. Some data insights from the most recent MFBI include:

  • Deepening uncertainty and concern over the Affordable Care Act. Businesses are being forced to reevaluate profit expectations and modify how they provide health care benefits to employees.
  • Michigan’s small to mid-sized businesses are bullish on the state economy and future business in Michigan. After a short pause in 2012, Michigan’s businesses show sustained confidence in a brighter future for the economy and their own success.
  • The market for direct mail advertising continues to improve. Thirty-six percent of businesses plan to invest in direct mail advertising in the next six months. That percentage has steadily increased from 20 percent in 2011.
